The Role

Apaya empowers merchants to offer a localised experience to satisfy their customer’s payment preferences and rapidly expand their customer reach. By providing a simple, single access point for the world’s local payment providers, we give merchants the freedom to grow their business into new territories.

Apaya powers local payment across North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa through a unified API with access to over 150 local payment providers.

Responsibilities

  • Establish an extensive pipeline of sales opportunities, manage the development of the pipeline and ensure successful closing of new merchants
  • Generate, manage and prioritise a sales pipeline in order to exceed sales targets and assist the business in hitting its broader revenue/margin targets.
  • Develop new sales plan and identify high value prospects
  • Identify and develop new sales partnerships with merchants with strong global presence
  • Develop customized proposals for new merchants using best practices, case studies and opportunity forecast, and secure necessary approval for new launches
  • Build strong relationship with key stakeholders within the clients’ organization
  • Proactively manage the existing merchants and work closely with them to develop plans to improve their performance, boost their revenue and potentially expand their footprint to some of the company’s other geographies
  • Work with members of the Commercial team to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenues
  • Accurately forecast sales to senior management
  • Prospect for new clients with the Marketing team by networking, advertising or using other means of generating interest from potential clients
  • Liaise with Marketing to identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • By working with other members of the management team, maintain a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide
  • Constantly screen the market to keep up to date with the company’s competitors offering and new services
  • Strong pipeline management to ensure data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM system (Hubspot)
  • Collaborate with the product team on improving UX, adding features and new development as per clients’ feedback
  • Align with the tech team for new merchant onboarding and devise a project plan to align all stakeholders and ensure timeline launch of new services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in B2B Business Development/Sales/Account Management with an understanding of the payments industry
  • Proven success in complex c-level negotiations, including all technical, compliance, legal and commercial aspects
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships to gain and share information such as industry trends for example
  • Creative problem solver ability to manage stressful situations whilst juggling multiple challenges.
  • High performer and results driven, with a track record of generating new revenue streams and incremental revenue
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling positioning/messaging plans and present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to justify requirements, features and drive results.
  • Good organizational and project management skills
  • The ability to think independently and have a hands-on mentality
  • Collaborative working style. Must work well in a remote team environment (at start)
  • Fluent English, additional language skills a plus
